Cohiba Cigar News

Wednesday July 5, 2006
The Supreme Court has affirmed that General Cigar, a subsidiary of Swedish Match, is the only legitimate owner of the Cohiba brand in the United States. General's Dominican Cohibas should not be confused with Cuban Cohibas, which are not legal in the United States. Despite the fact that General Cigar owns the trademark to the Cohiba (Compare Prices) brand name in the U.S., another company had recently attempted to market cigars using the Cohiba name. General Cigar aggressively defends its brand names against counterfeiters, as do other premium cigar manufacturers.

In other Cohiba cigar news, the brand will soon be available with a Maduro wrapper. The new Cohiba Black line of cigars will be unveiled at the Retail Tobacco Dealers of America's annual convention and trade show, later this month in Las Vegas.
