Cigar Rating Experiment – Part I
Tuesday August 8, 2006
The cigar selected for our experiment on the effects of aging cigars in a humidor is the Flor de Oliva Gold (6 x 50, natural). Instead of rating this cigar by smoking only one, I have placed a number of these cigars in a humidor for testing. Every few weeks, I will smoke one of these cigars to determine if the flavor is improving with age. The final review and rating of this cigar will not be made until all cigars have been tested.
I selected this particular stick because I was impressed with the regular Flor de Oliva (Compare Prices), and wanted to try the slightly more expensive Gold line, which has a Connecticut wrapper. The first cigar that I tested (right out of the package) tasted somewhat bitter, and I was very disappointed. However, this is exactly what I needed to conduct this experiment. By aging in a humidor, this particular cigar has a lot of room for improvement. Will the cigar that I initially tested be comparable to the next several cigars smoked, or to the final cigar tested several months from now? Stay tuned, or sign up for our free newsletter and get all the updates emailed right to your inbox.
Here are the results of some of our subsequent cigar tests:

Being an everyday smoker I always shop for good deals and cheap bundles. One of the first bundles I ever bought was LA PRIMADORA and it was Hum Hum green. They were put to the side for the rouges that came over while I was smoking and wanted to join in. Well after about 4 months I gave one to my brother inlaw who is a machine made cigar smoker and he said it was the best cigar he ever smoke. So I tried one the next day and gee what a difference. They were all gone in about six months. About a year ago I bought a box of La Vieja Habana Chateau No. 3 and they were perrty good right out of the box. Well I found 5 in the Igloodor the other day and lit one up. WOW what a smoke. The place I bought them from off the internet was sold out and I check several other places out also and the were sold out. Well Thursday Famous Somke Shop had them 65% off at 17.95 a box with free shipping over $100. Well that was easy to figure out I need six boxes right. Six to seven month in the humidor and I will have some really good fumas that will stand up to some of the best.
