Cigar Rating Experiment – Part VII
Thursday November 2, 2006
Another month has passed since the last taste test in our cigar aging experiment. A bundle of Flor de Oliva Gold cigars have now been aging in a humidor for three months. This month's test was conducted while sipping a glass of port wine, which complimented the cigar magnificently. The taste of the cigar was in line with my expectations, better than last month, but still not quite good enough to earn four stars out of a possible five. Based upon my prior experience with aging cigars, it could take the Flor de Oliva Gold cigar several more months of aging to significantly improve in flavor, or this particular cigar could already be at or near its peak. Every cigar ages differently, and other factors can also influence the enjoyment of an individual stick. Only further testing will reveal the full potential of this particular bundle of test cigars, and illustrate how the same cigar can taste different to the same cigar rater at different times.
