Cigar Rating Experiment – Part VIII

Friday December 1, 2006
Four Months of Aging Cigars Graph We have now been aging a bundle of Flor de Oliva Gold Toro cigars in a properly maintained humidor for four months. The cigar was tested and enjoyed along with an accompanying drink of Kahlua and cream. Since last month's taste test, there was not any significant improvement in the flavor of these cigars. At this point, it may take at least a year to notice a further improvement, or the cigars may have already reached their peak. Every cigar ages differently, but it is usually the full flavored cigars that improve the most with long-term aging. The Flor de Oliva Gold cigars are mild-to-medium in flavor, and still have some potential to improve within the first year of aging. However, a full flavored cigar can continue to improve with age for up to ten years, although few of us have the patience to wait that long.
