- TodaysCigar.com will open for business starting at 12:00:01 on January 5th. The first day's deal will be a 5-pack of Carlos Torano 1916 Cameroon Churchills, selling for $21.25. TodaysCigar.com will specialize in bundles of 3 -5 cigars, with order prices often averaging under $20. A different cigar will be on sale every day.
- For the second consecutive year, CAO has been selected to provide cigars for the 12th Annual Critics’ Choice Awards Show, to be held on January 12 at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium. CAO will once again provide an assortment of its award-winning cigars for talent, industry VIPs, and invited guests. Among the featured cigars of the evening will be CAO Gold, CAO Brazilia and CAO The SopranosSM Edition.
- The Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) has proposed changes to the regulations that govern the classification of cigars and cigarettes for tax purposes. Comments regarding the proposed changes can be made by the public until March 26, 2007. Speak now, or forever hold your peace.

Can you unpack the proposed changes to the cigar/cigarette classification by the ATB? I followed the links to the proposed methodology, but I’m no chemist. What’s the bottom line?
There have been arguments going on for some time about what is a cigar, and what is a cigarette. The controversy has to do with “Little Cigars” that may actually be cigarettes, that are marketed and taxed at lower cigar rates instead of at the higher tax rates for cigarettes.
