Review of a Super Premium Cigar

Monday January 22, 2007
The Fuente Fuente Opux X is a super premium, top of the line cigar by Arturo Fuente. These cigars are very rare, and also very expensive. But are they worth the price? Read my first cigar review of 2007 and find out.

Hey man, first and foremost I think you got JOBBED by your tobacconist, as this cigar is supposed to retail at around $8.50 (guess it all depends on what state you live in with the taxes).

Second, I would snoop around and see if your tobacconist, or hopefully some one better than the one you are using, possesses the Perfecxion A, which does retail for $25 and is worth every puff or the Perfexion X, which retails at $12. Both of these cigars are oily, flavorful and elegant and well worth the price tag.

The No. 4 is fertilizer compared to these heavy hitters. I had the opportunity of enjoying the Carlito’s Way Sampler from Holt’s in Philadelphia (or Fuh-wie as they say). 5 cigars, $50, each one better than the next.

Tell your tobacconist to turn up the humidifier or pay his electric bill on time for once so you can truly enjoy your smokes.

I’m out.

I totally agree with Gary. I have tried 4 Opus X’s so far and all have been ok. Nothing to brag about. All 4 were from differnt shops too. Definately not worth the money. I have a few local shops here and I don’t pay over 16.00 for the them but like Gary said wasn’t what I expected. I do have a Forbidden X in the humi and I will age it some more to see if it helps. Hopefully this won’t a relight again and again. If you want a great Cigar get yourself an Ashton VSG now that is a great Primo!!! My 2x a week smoker is a nice $4.00 Padron 3000.. Gary Keep up the great work!

Thanks for the comments. I paid about $11 for the No. 4, but saw it selling for $25+ at a couple of obscure online retailers who actually had it in stock. After making the purchase, the cigar sat in my humidor for almost 2 months before I fired it up. Usually, I age my cigars for several months, but I wanted to start off the new year by reviewing this particular stick. Anyway, everyone has their own tastes, but to me, this cigar is not worth more than $6 or $7.

That’s good that you paid only (ha!) $11 for the No. 4. I hate seeing people get ripped off.

The most I have paid in some time is $30 for the Ashton Estate Sun Grown Churchills. Nat Sherman on 42nd and Madison in NYC limited 2 per customer. They are discontinued and will feature a Robusto as an Estate Sun Grown.
