- Britain's Imperial Tobacco Group has made a new offer to acquire the world's largest cigar company, Altadis, S.A. According to an Altadis press release, the bid will be accepted unless a higher offer is received. Read more about the world's largest cigar companies.
- New Perdomo Habano® cigars will soon be available in five sizes: Robusto (5 x 52); Toro (5 1/2 x 54); Torpedo (6 1/2 x 54); Gordo (6 x 60) and Presidente (7 x 56). The suggested retail price will range from $5.00 to $7.00. The cigars are made with a unique blend of Nicaraguan filler tobaccos from three different regions, and according to Nick Perdomo, “I believe that the beautiful Cuban-seed Corojo wrappers and the triple-fermented Nicaraguan Maduro wrappers compliment this unique filler blend by adding rich, bold flavors with a smooth satisfying finish.”
- To the surprise of CAO management, the 500 available tickets for CAO's 2007 RTDA Party in Houston actually sold out within 5 hours. The extravaganza will feature Colleen Shannon, “The World’s Sexiest DJ” and Playboy 50th Anniversary Playmate, CAO Cigars, an open bar, casino gaming, the CAO Flavourettes, and much more. CAO will introduce their new "America" cigar at the RTDA Convention and Trade Show, on August 4-8, 2007.
- Effective August 4, the TSA will begin to allow most cigarette lighters on airplanes. However, the restrictions will still apply to torch lighters. Read about current restrictions.
