Operation Cigars For Troops

Wednesday April 16, 2008
We thank all cigar manufacturers, retailers, websites, and others whom support our troops overseas by sending them fine cigars. Besides our own Cigars For Troops Program, cigar companies like Thompson Cigar have been big contributors through their own special programs. Now, we are happy to announce that Altadis U.S.A. is planning to send upwards of 50,000 free cigars to our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan through a new program that features Altadis brands such as Montecristo White (Rothchilde), Romeoy Julieta Reserva Real (Belicoso), and H. Upmann Vintage Cameroon (Toro).

The program works as follows:

Altadis Operation Cigars For Troops Consumers purchase one or more of the “Operation Cigars for Troops” four-packs specially designed for the event. They pay for three cigars and receive the fourth free. For each four-pack sold, Altadis U.S.A. sends a free cigar to the troops overseas. Retail tobacconists nationwide are participating.

Consumers who participate can send a virtual greeting to the troops by visiting cigarsfortroops.com. For more information, contact Janelle Rosenfeld at (954) 938-7837 or jrosenfeld@altadisusa.com.

I am cautious about buying “samplers” from Thompson. I understand their substitution policy but 30% (16 cigar sampler) of my last order was substituted. A bit high in my opinion. Then they had the nerve to put the offer on the cover of the next catalog.

(3) Cigars says:

Troops should contact Altadis for info on their program. However, we have our own Cigars for Troops Program. Feel free to contact Tony Brych to put your FOB on the distribution list. NOTE: This post is time sensitive, and Tony Brych will eventually be replaced with a new contact after his deployment is over. Current contact info is included in our Cigars for Troops article.
