Altadis USA Defends Brand Name Cigars

Tuesday June 10, 2008
Altadis USA has a zero-tolerance policy against cigar counterfeiting and trademark infringement. Just ask the Inter America Cigar Company, which recently lost a trial decision for its use of the name "Primo del Cristo" in connection with cigars, because there is a likelihood of confusion with Altadis USA's trademarked brand name "Montecristo".

According to an Altadis USA press release, the company has issued the following Notice To The Trade:

"Altadis U.S.A. is strongly committed to the vigorous enforcement of its trademark rights and will seek criminal prosecution of anyone who would violate those rights. Altadis U.S.A. continues to work with state and federal law enforcement officials to use anti-counterfeiting laws to secure convictions of counterfeiters of our brands."
