Top 25 Cigars of 2008

By , About.com GuideJanuary 9, 2009

Follow me on:

During the last few days, the cigar gurus at Cigar Aficionado have been unveiling the names of cigars on their list of the Top 25 Cigars of 2008. Well, they have finally worked their way through the top 10 cigars of last year, with the prestigious number one spot going to the Casa Magna Colorado Robusto! The last 15 cigars on list (cigars 11 through 25) will be published on Cigar Aficionado's website on Monday, January 12, 2009. Although you may not agree with every cigar on the list nor their rankings, it is always interesting to see which cigars impressed the experts at that popular cigar magazine the most.

We have reviewed seven of the same brands (but not the particular cigars) that are on Cigar Aficionado's top ten list, right here on this website. Here are links to those reviews: * Cuban brands are not comparable to the same brand name cigars made in other countries.

Hello,
I saw your website about cigars here, and believe I can add something important to it.

I’ve written an article recently I think you’ll find will be very informative for your visitors. I was wondering if you would consider linking to my article at: http://www.insuranceblogbychris.com/affordable-life-insurance-for-cigar-smokers

It’s about getting low cost life insurance for the occasional cigar user. If you know where to look, you can actually smoke cigars and get rated as a Non Tobacco user.

Thank you for your consideration.

I have seen CA’s top 25 cigars of 2008 and there is something that doesn’t really make sense….. How can the #1 cigar (by Plasencia) be given the ‘best’ when the Padron 80th Anniversary,#2 according to the ‘experts’, has a much higher rating? In fact, Padron has the highest rating of all the cigars reviewed!
If Cigar Aficionado wants to start getting into the ‘price : quality’ business, they should create a new category. When I am looking for THE BEST CIGAR that’s exactly what I want. And this time, same as last year, it is a Padron…. CA’s opinion or not.
Looks like Cigar Aficionado is rewarding whoever gives them more ads per year. See this year’s past editions and check ads published vs. ratings. Interesting stuff.
In plain English this is called ‘extorsion’.

I almost agree. KiKi at cuban crafters delivers some of the best cigars in the world.
His low prices naturaly get his cigars overlooked by “afficianados” but his small batch handmades will compete with the best in the world.
I know, I smoke many brands.
You owe it to yourself to check out Cuban Crafters.

I almost forgot. Last year I bought a true Spanish Rosado fronm KiKi. It was heavenly right off the truck.
I’ll pull one from the humidor for special occasions only!
If you enjoy an old school Rosado, you can’t beat KiKi.
