Cuban Crafters Cabinet Selection cigars are handmade in Nicaragua. The Robusto size that I sampled is box pressed and measures five inches in length with a ring gauge of 52. The cap on this cigar has a long curly head resembling a pigtail. The Cuban-seed filler tobaccos are sun-grown in Nicaragua as is the binder, and the wrapper is from Ecuador.

As an aside, Cuban Crafters also makes other cigars, such as their Medina 1959 line, in Miami, Florida. In addition, the company opened a full-fledged cigar store during December 2010, at Hopkins Airport in Cleveland, Ohio. Cuban Crafters plans to have a cigar roller at that location who will roll exclusive Cleveland Airport cigars available only at the airport store. In September 2011, I visited the store in Concourse D to pick up some of those exclusive Cleveland Airport cigars, but the live cigar rolling had not yet begun. According to the representative at the store, it will be several months before a roller will be on-site at that location. In the mean time, you can purchase Cuban Crafters cigars made in Miami as well as other brands at the Cleveland airport location.

Cuban Crafters Cabinet Selection cigars are advertised as being full bodied, but I found them to be closer to the lower end of the medium-to-full range. The cigar started off with a very pleasant sweet and slightly spicy tobacco flavor, which faded very gradually throughout the duration of the smoke. I enjoyed the flavor of this cigar from start to finish, and the taste was never harsh nor bitter.

Draw and Construction

The Cuban Crafters Cabinet Selection Robusto had a good-enough draw, but the volume of smoke could have been a little more for my liking. The cigar did require several touch-up lights to keep the wrapper burning evenly, but the ash was long and the cigar did not need any relights, since it never went out. It look me about 45 minutes to smoke the Robusto down to two inches remaining.

Value

Here's some good news. A box of 25 Cuban Crafters Cabinet Selection Robusto cigars can be purchased online at Cuban Crafters' website for only $79.99 as of this writing, which works out to an average of only $3.20 per stick. That is a great value for a tasty cigar that earned a respectable rating of four stars in this review.
