El Titan de Bronze Maduro Cigar

El Titan de Bronze Grand Reserve Maduro cigars are made in Miami with Brazilian Maduro wrappers, Ecuadorian binders, and a blend of Nicaraguan and Cuban-seed Dominican filler tobaccos. These cigars are available in six sizes, including a Toro that I sampled measuring six inches in length with a ring gauge of 52. The El Titan de Bronze Manufacturing Company was established in 1995, and is located on Calle Ocho in Little Havana. Master blender Willy Herrera departed the company during 2011 (he's now at Drew Estate), but the cigar being reviewed here was made while he was still with El Titan de Bronze.

Flavor

El Titan de Bronze Maduro cigars are medium-to-full bodied, but I found them to be closer to the bottom end of that range. The cigar began with a moderate spicy sweet flavor, with a bit of a peppery aftertaste that was not too strong, but just a little tart. After about 5-10 minutes, the cigar settled down somewhat, and provided a very enjoyable smoking experience for the duration of the smoke.

Draw and Construction

The El Titan de Bronze Maduro Toro had a free and easy draw that wasn't too loose (but it almost was, especially at the beginning), and the cigar itself felt a bit soft to the touch. However, the cigar had an even burn and held a medium-to-long ash. No relights or touch-ups were needed. It took me only 35 minutes to smoke the Toro down to about 1½ inches remaining, which is a pretty short amount of time for a cigar this size. I attribute that to the construction issues previously noted.

Value

Cigars made in the U.S. tend to be more expensive than those made in the Caribbean or Central America. A box of 20 El Titan de Bronze Grand Reserve Maduro Toro cigars should cost around $125 online, which works out to just over $6 per cigar. That actually isn't too bad for cigars that are handmade in Miami. I enjoyed this line more than the company's Redemption Cigars, which have a similar price tag. Give them a try!
