After Dr. Fadem's review of the Oliva Serie V cigar, I started smoking them, too. But since that review was already in the bag, I decided to review an Oliva Serie G Corona after enjoying a Serie V Double Toro. Oliva Serie G cigars are made with filler (and binder) tobaccos from Nicaragua, and genuine African Cameroon wrappers. The Oliva Corona size measures 6 inches long with a ring gauge of 46.

Flavor

My Oliva Serie G was a medium bodied cigar that had a nice toasted flavor with a hint of spice. Although the taste was very good, it could not compare in complexity nor fullness with the Serie V. However, this does not mean that I was disappointed. Although the Serie G would make a better choice for a new cigar smoker than the Serie V, its great flavor and milder strength will surely appeal to a wide range of cigar aficionados, too. As Dr. Fadem has recommended the Serie V for all cigar smokers, I also recommend the Oliva Serie G. Which one to choose depends on what you have a taste for at the time, and of course, how much you are willing to spend.

Draw and Construction

The Oliva Serie G had an excellent draw, even burn, and did not require any relights. It took me a little less than an hour to smoke the cigar down to two inches remaining. The cigar was very well made, and there were not any issues with its construction to hamper my enjoyment of this fine cigar.

Value

A box of 25 Oliva Serie G Cameroon Coronas should cost just under $75, which works out to less than $3 per stick. The cigar is available in other sizes at somewhat similar prices, and is also available with a Maduro wrapper (which is slightly more expensive). As usual, expect to pay more for a single cigar. At these prices, the Oliva Serie G is a great value for any level of cigar smoker, and I highly recommend them. However, if you are willing to pay double the price, or about $6 per cigar if purchased by the box, I agree with Dr. Fadem and also bestow my highest recommendation to the Oliva Serie V, especially for advanced beginners up to and including the most seasoned cigar smokers. You will not be disappointed.
