I am MSgt Chris Dunham one of the co-founders of the cigar club here in Kabul, Afghanistan. On behalf of the Camp Eggers Cigar Smokers (CECS) club I want to thank you and your group for your most generous donation.
Lt Col Brian Hand, Major Mitch Fadem, TSgt Pedro Santos, myself and a few others started our club 10 months ago when we arrived and decided that every Thursday night would be our cigar night. Unfortunately our Base Exchange here at Camp Eggers decided to stop selling cigars (I bought the last four they had the first week we arrived), so we ordered some from Thompson after taking up a collection.
While waiting for our order to come in, Mitch (who has returned home to the US already) contacted a friend named Gary Manelski who writes cigar articles for about.com (part of the New York Times Company). With Mitch and Gary's help we launched the Cigars for Troops Program and have received/shipped/shared over a 1000 cigars across Afghanistan.
Lt Col Ruszkowski one of our new Air Corp mentors was kind enough to find me and pass along your donation to our club. Please be assured the Humidor will stay behind and be passed along to a trusted cigar smoker after I leave here in April. One of my Wingmen, MSgt Jeff Kelly from my home station unit will be here until August. When I leave I will pass the Cigar Club torch (and your humidor) to him. He will then pass it along to the next person he feels will keep it here in Afghanistan and continue supporting our club.
Your gift is truly the most generous we have received to date and gratefully accepted by myself and the entire club. I will get as many cigar smokers as I can together this Friday and take some photos for you and your group. I included a picture of myself with your humidor full of cigars so you can show your friends the big grin I had when I saw this gift.
