Definition: Cigar alternatives are inexpensive cigars that are supposed to taste almost the same as more expensive brand name cigars, but are not manufactured by the same company that makes the original brand. Alternative cigars are marketed as brand name alternatives, and do not attempt to deceive the consumer with the use of phony packaging and advertising that replicate their original counterparts. They are not counterfeit cigars, and do not infringe on the trademarks of other cigar makers. Of course, there are many unique brands of cigars that can also taste like other more expensive cigars, but they are not considered to be cigar alternatives if they are marketed under their own unique brand names.
