Believe it or not, there are many small companies in the U.S. that have their own cigar rollers and are blending and making great cigars. Each month, I am going to feature one of these in a series simply called "U.S. Cigar Rollers". Some of these cigar makers are medium sized companies, some of them are just one guy rolling cigars and most are family run businesses. You never know, but there may just be a great cigar roller in your city that you have not yet discovered.
Bobalu Cigar Company
My first featured company in our series "U.S. Cigar Rollers" is a company formed by a couple of college buddies who wanted to make their own cigars. The year before I deployed to Afghanistan, I was on a special assignment at the U.S. Army Northern Command HQ, Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. I took a ride one Saturday with a good friend and cigar smoking buddy Bill Schlegel, who is from the area. Our day trip took us up to Austin, Texas and the Bobalu Cigar Company. Click on the link to the article that came from that great visit, which is the reason I decided to start searching for other "U.S. Cigar Rollers". It is a real treat to watch your cigars being made and if you are adventurous enough, the roller may even blend a special cigar just for you.
Over the next several months we will be featuring other "U.S. Cigar Rollers" in San Antonio, Texas, Las Vegas, Nevada and Hoboken, New Jersey.
