On November 1, 2008, I had the pleasure of attending Mike's Cigars first (and possibly annual) We're Smokin' event in Miami, Florida. Mike's Cigars was established back in 1950 by Mike Mersel, who in 1985, turned the company over to its next president, Oscar Boruchin. Oscar later retired in 2011. The company boasts both a strong retail and wholesale cigar business, and has an interesting story to tell which you can read online at mikescigars.com.
To cover the We're Smokin' story for about.com, I was granted complimentary admission to the event, which began at 1PM and ran until 6PM.
