The Partagas Robusto is a small but flavorful cigar, which measures only 4 ½ inches in length with a ring gauge of 49. The cost is under $3.50 per stick when purchased by the box. The cigars are made in the Dominican Republic with a blend of Dominican and Mexican filler tobaccos, and Cameroon wrappers.
Flavor
The cigar was medium in flavor, very smooth and mellow, and not at all overpowering. The taste was consistent throughout, and I really enjoyed this cigar more than most of the other brands that I have smoked. Although the cigar is short, the key to its flavorful blend of filler tobaccos is the relatively large ring gauge. And, as a pleasant surprise, I was not surprised by a foul taste in my mouth the morning after smoking this particular cigar.
Draw and Construction
The Partagas Robusto had a nice easy draw, and was very well constructed. The cigar held a long ash, burned evenly, and did not go out at all during the tasting. I smoked this cigar down to about 1", which took less than a half hour, and I enjoyed every minute.
Value
Partagas is a very popular cigar made by General Cigar (a subsidiary of Swedish Match), and has earned its reputation (since 1845) of being one of the premier cigar brands in the world. The cigar is well worth the price, despite being only 4 ½ inches long. A 6" Partagas with a similar ring gauge would cost approximately twice as much, but will last at least 15 minutes longer. The Robusto size is a great opportunity to experience one of the world's better cigars at a reasonable price.
